~Travis~

"I'd rather hurt you this way than watch you wake up one morning, after losing everyone in your life, because you think your love for me means more than your loyalty to them."

Sarah said this to me.

"I'm sorry."

She said that, too.

Caught up in the inescapable pain of an unexpected loss, Sarah and I shared one unforgettable night together. The next morning, she made the decision to walk away from what could've been.

To her, we were a mistake.

To me, we were everything I never knew I needed.

~Sarah~

Those I'm closest to never understood me.

To them, my maddening character was nothing more than a ridiculous piece of my adolescence.

To me, it was the sad truth knowing I was never going to be an equal among them.

After my life was tragically ripped apart, the only person I believed accepted the real me, offered me the escape I was desperate for.

I refused to believe the night Travis and I shared would taint our friendship. I thought if I kept him at arm's length and if I denied talking to him about what we'd done, my life would go back to what it was before.

To me, it was a lonely place in which I was used to being.

To him, it was the one place I never belonged.

It wasn't only Ace who stood in the way of our happily-ever-after. The power of a person's past has a way of risking their future.

Travis's past jeopardized it all.

The Devil's Despair series is complete.
Book One Ace's Redemption
Book Two Hayden's Verse
Book Three Travis's Stand

What a great series. I loved the Perils MC series and Devil's Despair series. I loved Travis's story the best. I loved the way they bantered back and forth. It was funny and sad but just a great story. I loved Travis and Sarah's friendship how it evovled into true love. They were perfect for each other. I loved Hayden and Lacey's story 2nd. The only thing i didn't like was that he never told Lacey he never cheated on her. But I loved how Hayden finally realized he deserved loved just like everyone else and that he found it in Lacey and their daughter. Just a great story. Ace and Rae's story was great too but i think you need to read the Perils MC series to enjoy their story more. In all the series was awesome would definetly recommend reading. I loved how they guys were always there for each other through good times and bad. Sorry to see it end that's for sure. But will definetly be reading more of AC Bextor books. if you haven't read the Perils MC series definelty a must read. Loved Sadey and Hems story the best.

I could not wait for Travis's story and I was not disappointed. Out of all the characters, He was one of my favorites and hoped there would be a book dedicated to him. So good!

I was emotionally invested in these characters and enjoyed having each of them make an appearance in this book. I'm not happy that AC made me cry right off the bat, but that's how much these fictional people meant to me. I'll forgive her though - she has a wonderful way of writing that will bring out your tears, make you smile and fan yourself. Great job! Can't wait to see what you pull out of your bag of tricks next!
Where do I start with Travis' book? A.C. did it again! You've got Travis, the quite, introspective Alpha and Sarah, who is strong willed, mouthy and out to prove she's a woman now! This book made me laugh out loud and spit out my water. Made me cry!!! There was even a short time frame where I cursed the day I took a chance on A.C.! I was so upset with her for breaking my heart!!! However, A.C. you are in my good graces, as Travis' book was by far my favorite in the series. I am sad to see the Devil's Despair family go, but, can not wait to take this next journey with you! Thank you A.C. for putting so much care, thought and incredible writing into each and every book! Just know with each book my heart shattered at some point, but by the end had mended itself. However, one piece of my heart from each book will forever be for your Devil's Despair crew! I am looking forward (not so patiently) for what's next! Keep on rocking it!
Neither this book nor Hayden's book were as good as the first one and I think it's because there's no real plot to this entire series except that a group of friends with somewhat dysfunctional backgrounds meet women with equally dysfunctional backgrounds and heal each other through love. The fact that they are all in a band called Devil's Despair is irrelevant - they don't even play anymore. Trav's character - tough, uncommunicative, but a big teddy bear for the woman he loves - was unoriginal. Sarah - dirty mouth brat that turns into a sexy dirty mouthed woman - was equally so. His backstory and it's resolution wasn't all that tragic - he had a loving dad for all of his youth and a loving mother figure as well for most of his life. He just wasn't broken - and neither was she. Ace was the only real tension in the whole story, and that was hard to swallow realistically as both Sarah and Trav are adults. Net, if you don't feel compelled to close the loop on this series, there are better reads out there.
Travis .. what can I say. I absolutely LOVE the Lights of Peril series and this spin off is no different. Ace, Cherry the entire crew is back. But this time we as readers finally get what we want; or at least what I was waiting for. Sara and Travis. There is loss in this final installment. A loss that will almost break you. The heartache you feel alongside these characters is real along with the turmoil.

Travis has loved Sara all his life. Sara cant remember a time that Travis was not here for her. Now is when she needs him the most. The family has taken a huge blow with the loss of a loved one. Nothing will ever be the same. How can they go on without their pillar in place. The voice of reason; the person who brought them all together and kept them all on solid ground.

And Ace, he would never accept the love between Travis and Sara. He would move heaven and earth for them NOT to be together. He would never accept it. Ace will feel nothing but betrayal. He has protected Sara from everything that he was able to. Not that she listened but he wont accept this ... not Travis and Sara.

Travis's Stand will play on every emotion that you have in your soul. The loss, the betrayal of friendships, the turmoil and pain will all consume you. This was the final book in this series and I cant say that I am happy about it. I wasn't happy about the final installment of Lights of Peril. However I know that AC will move us with yet another book when its complete. Until then I will hold these characters close to my heart just as I do with the guys and girls from Lights of Peril. Excellent, moving read.
Spoiler Alert! Travis and Sarah had to have been the most difficult characters to write about, yet A. C. Bextor nailed their story.
I must admit that Sarah was never a favorite of mine, and Travis was very distant in previous books. I loved how Sarah developed throughout this story, how she remained a strong woman, and Travis's acceptance of her strength. Her confrontation of Ace, Rae and the others is brilliantly written and defines her character perfectly. I was concerned that she'd still be a bratty, seemingly immature girl, but she grew up beautifully.
After finding out about Travis's childhood, it's easy to understand how he was drawn into a close friendship with Rae in Ace's Redemption, and why he always seemed to be on the periphery of the group. I loved his ability to allow Sarah to be strong and his respect for her strength. Their relationship couldn't be easy, but it definitely ended up being exactly what I wished for.
Congrats, A. C. Bextor - you nailed it!
