The masterful stories in this collection relate Holmes and Watson's involvement with the case of an eminent physiologist inexplicably savaged by his faithful wolfhound, of the priceless stolen Crown diamond found in the pocket of a peer, and of the mysterious figure who means to buy Mrs Maberley's house and all of its contents, whatever the cost, while Holmes himself tells the story of a Boer war hero set to inherit a fortune who mysteriously disappears from the family seat.

Known and loved by generation after generation, this shrewd amateur detective, with faithful Watson by his side, has earned his place in our national life and social history.

This collection of four short stories, which includes "The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier", "The Adventure of the Creeping Man", "The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone", and "The Adventure of the Three Gables", taken from The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes, indulges us with more exciting adventures of Baker Street's most famous resident.

The stories are of course top notch, a legible typeface was used, the book is bound nicely with apparently high quality paper, good cover art, and some good pen and ink drawings that relate to the stories. The bad. . . There is no table of contents, and the stories start on the same page the previous story ended on, even if there is only enough room for the title. Without story names on the top of each page within the story, this makes finding any particular story difficult unless you just read them straight through and use a book mark. This was disappointing and irritating, since the book is priced comparable to its competitors (I made my own TOC as a bookmark, so I'm keeping the book). 😀

The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes (Audible Audio Edition) Christopher Lee Arthur Conan Doyle HarperCollins Publishers Limited Books Reviews

This is the final collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories. An excellent collection with a few even told by Mr. Holmes himself. The strength of these stories is just as good as the first. I will definitely be revisiting them soon.
As my previous reviews of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books on Sherlock Holmes, this too was an excellent read. Just when I thought that I had read all of Doyle's writings on him, I happily discovered more. Again, if you are a fan, one never tires of reading about Sherlock Holmes' keen skill at attention to details in solving crimes. This book was no exception! Each story was well developed. I enjoy the fact that I can read one of his stories in one or two sittings. I hope I find more stories. Well done, Doyle!
Long a fan of Doyle's from the time a teacher pit one the Holmes tomes in my hand. One of the masters of first person.
This is the final set of Sherlock Holmes short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Like the other stories Sherlock seems to be one step ahead of everyone else in finding the solution to the mystery. However, in a unique way of telling some of these stories the narrator is Sherlock Holmes himself and not John Watson as is usually the case.
As others have noted, the stories here aren't up to par with Conan Doyle's first Sherlock Holmes mysteries. If you're a huge Holmes fan, you might find them interesting. Those who haven't yet been introduced to Holmes and Watson should opt for the earlier works.
A huge deviation from the Victorian/Edwardian era Holmes story's. Doyle is able to keep up with the times here. S.H. is sarcastic, witty, and a PI of the 20th Century. These were written in the era of Black Mask Mystery Magazine, Dashiell Hammett and the new Hardboiled Private Eye of fiction. This is more like the Holmes of the popular BBC series running now. The purist here seem to like the old style Holmes much more (judging by the reviews). I think this collection to be a refreshing break, and a more multi-dimensional Detective.
I love the quality of the book, but was hoping for illustrations. The description of the book series led me to believe they were in there.

I do love these pocket-sized clothbound books. I have a collection of books with fine bindings, but they can be cumbersome to read or too fancy to be portable.

Good alternative to . Wish they were bound in the USA rather than China.
